According to company president, Les Atkins, the move comes in an effort to more accurately reflect the company’s business and the growing market it serves. “With a new decade upon us, we decided that it was time to expand our services beyond basic public relations, as the demand for help with newer, more cutting-edge branding and marketing is at an all-time high,” said Atkins. “This change supports the company’s intention to expand its advertising services to help small businesses maximize their marketing and advertising budgets during these challenging economic times.”
The Atkins Ad Group is a full-service advertising agency, serving eastern North Carolina and southern Virginia. Based in Roanoke Rapids, NC the company opened for business in 2006 and was named the Roanoke Valley Chamber’s New Business of the Year in 2009.
Over the years, services have grown to include: public relations, identity/branding, advertising, event marketing, website creation, graphic design and creative development.

ASPIRE encourages students to make wise choices in life. The Atkins Ad Group was selected to provide marketing and public relations support for the program which is currently being taught in both Halifax County and Weldon City Schools. A radio campaign was used to promote parental support and posters were developed to raise awareness among students. The campaign has resulted in lower teen pregnancy rates within those school systems.
